Soft Pretzel

A twisted knot of salted dough from central Europe/World Cuisines

The pretzel's distinctive knot shape dates back to at least the 7th century in Europe. Traditional Bavarian pretzels are dipped in lye solution before baking, which gives them their dark brown crust. The three holes in the knot are said to represent the Holy Trinity.
