The trombone-crested duck-billed dinosaur/Dinosaurs & Extinct Animals
Parasaurolophus walkeri was a hadrosaurid that lived about 76 to 73 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous in North America. Its most distinctive feature was a long, backward-curving cranial crest up to 1.8 meters long, which contained hollow tubes connected to the nasal passages. Scientists believe the crest functioned as a resonating chamber, producing low-frequency sounds for communication. The animal was about 10 meters long and weighed roughly 2,500 kg.
