Wrestling Mat

The circular competition surface for Olympic-style wrestling/Sports

An Olympic wrestling mat is a 12 m by 12 m square padded surface with a circular competition area of 9 m diameter at its center. Within this circle, a central wrestling area of 7 m diameter is marked, with a 1 m red 'passivity zone' around it. The mat is made of high-density foam typically 5-7 cm thick, covered with a vinyl surface. The surrounding protection area prevents injuries when wrestlers are pushed near the edge. Both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling use the same mat specifications.
