Washing Machine

The appliance that eats socks and calls it a cycle/Everyday Objects

A standard front-loading washing machine weighs about 80 kg, has a drum volume of about 80 liters, and spins at up to 1,000-1,400 RPM during the spin cycle. It uses about 500 watts during washing and generates enough centrifugal force to push water through fabric at high speed. The missing sock phenomenon remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of domestic science.
