Viking Round Shield

The linden-wood shield of Norse warriors/Historical Weapons

Viking shields were typically round, made of planks of linden or fir, with an iron boss protecting the hand grip. They were lightweight enough to be used offensively as well as defensively. Archaeological finds show diameters ranging from 45 cm to over 90 cm.
