Tuk-Tuk (Auto Rickshaw)

The buzzy three-wheeled taxi ubiquitous across South and Southeast Asia/Transportation

The tuk-tuk (auto rickshaw) is a three-wheeled motorized vehicle used as a taxi in cities across South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The name is onomatopoeic, mimicking the sound of its small two-stroke engine. A typical tuk-tuk is about 2.6 m long, 1.3 m wide, and 1.7 m tall, weighing about 200 kg. They can carry 2-3 passengers plus a driver. In Bangkok alone, an estimated 20,000 tuk-tuks operate, though the Indian auto-rickshaw market numbers in the millions.
