Tsing Ma Bridge

The world's longest suspension bridge carrying both road and rail/Bridges & Tunnels

The Tsing Ma Bridge in Hong Kong connects Tsing Yi island to Ma Wan island and was completed in 1997, just in time for the opening of Hong Kong International Airport. It carries both road traffic on its upper deck and railway and sheltered road lanes on its lower deck. Its main span of 1,377 meters made it the world's longest suspension bridge carrying rail traffic. The bridge was designed to withstand typhoon winds and is closed to traffic during the strongest storms, with vehicles rerouted to the enclosed lower deck.
