Trumpet (Bb)

1.4 meters of tubing coiled into portable brilliance/Musical Instruments

A standard Bb trumpet consists of about 1.4 meters of brass tubing coiled into a compact instrument about 49 cm long. It has three piston valves that open additional tubing lengths to lower the pitch. Despite having only three valves, a skilled player can produce the full chromatic scale. The bell flare at the end acts as an acoustic impedance matcher.
