Auguste Rodin's The Thinker was originally conceived in 1880 as part of his Gates of Hell composition, depicting Dante contemplating his Inferno. The original plaster model was 71.5 cm tall. The larger, iconic bronze version stands 1.86 meters tall and weighs about 680 kg. Over 25 full-size bronze casts exist in museums worldwide, each one technically an 'original.'
