The One Ring

The ruling ring forged by Sauron in the fires of Mount Doom/Mythical & Fictional

The One Ring from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a plain gold band forged by the Dark Lord Sauron in the volcanic fires of Mount Doom. At roughly 19 millimeters in diameter and 21 grams in mass, it is physically indistinguishable from an ordinary gold ring. Its most remarkable physical property is that it can only be destroyed at the specific temperature of its forging, estimated around 1100 degrees Celsius. Spiritually, it makes you invisible and slowly corrupts your soul, which is a lot of baggage for 21 grams.
