TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse)

France's bullet that runs on rails and Gallic pride/Trains & Rail

The TGV has been France's flagship high-speed train since 1981, routinely whisking passengers between Paris and Lyon at speeds that make highway driving feel medieval. In 2007 a modified TGV set the world rail speed record at 574.8 km/h. The standard Duplex version carries over 500 passengers on two decks, proving that the French can stack people as efficiently as they stack cheese on a baguette.
