Singapore (City-State)

The island nation that became one of the world's richest urban centers/Cities & Urban

As a city-state, Singapore functions simultaneously as a city, a country, and an island. Its urban area covers essentially the entire territory of 733 square kilometers, with a population density of about 8,000 people per square kilometer. Despite its tiny size, Singapore has the world's second-busiest container port, Changi Airport (consistently rated the world's best), and one of the highest GDP per capita figures globally. Its skyline along Marina Bay, featuring the distinctive Marina Bay Sands hotel, has become one of Asia's most photographed vistas.
