The Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea, is the largest stadium in the world by capacity, seating approximately 114,000 spectators. Completed in 1989, its distinctive scalloped roof consists of 16 arches arranged in a ring, giving it a shape resembling a magnolia blossom or a parachute. The stadium hosts the Mass Games, an elaborate propaganda spectacle involving over 100,000 performers. It covers about 20.7 hectares and rises 60 meters above grade.
