Rugby Ball

The oval ball that gave American football its shape/Sports

A regulation rugby union ball is an elongated ellipsoid made of synthetic material with four panels. Its shape evolved from the pig-bladder balls hand-stitched by William Gilbert in Rugby, England in the 1820s. The oval form allows for both carrying and kicking during play.
