Polo Field
The largest field in organized sport, the size of nine football pitches/Sports
A regulation polo field is the largest playing field in organized sport, measuring 274 m (300 yards) long and 146 m (160 yards) wide, covering about 4 hectares or roughly nine football pitches. Goal posts are set 7.3 m apart at each end. The field is traditionally grass, and its enormous size is necessary because the game is played on horseback at speeds up to 55 km/h. Each match consists of four to six 7-minute periods called chukkers. The field must be flat and well-drained to prevent injuries to horses galloping at full speed.
