Pineapple
A fruit that takes two years to grow and is actually 200 fused berries/Food & Drinks
The pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a tropical fruit that is actually a composite of 100 to 200 individual fruitlets fused together around a central core. Each 'eye' on the surface represents one berry. A pineapple plant takes about 18 to 24 months to produce a single fruit and then typically produces just one more before the plant is replaced. Pineapples contain bromelain, a protein-digesting enzyme so potent that plantation workers wear gloves to prevent skin irritation. This enzyme is why pineapple can tenderize meat and why your mouth tingles when you eat it, as the fruit is literally digesting you back.
