Mumbai Metropolitan Area

India's financial capital on a narrow peninsula and reclaimed land/Cities & Urban

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region covers about 6,328 square kilometers and is home to roughly 23 million people, making it one of the most densely populated urban areas on Earth. Mumbai city proper occupies a narrow peninsula of just 603 square kilometers, much of it reclaimed from the sea over centuries (the original settlement was seven separate islands). Mumbai is India's financial capital, producing about 6% of the country's GDP, and is the center of Bollywood, the world's largest film industry by number of films produced annually.
