Most Dominoes Toppled

Over 5 million dominoes falling in a carefully choreographed chain reaction/Human Records & Feats

The world record for the most dominoes toppled in a chain reaction is 5,000,011, set during Domino Day 2009 by a team of 89 builders in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. Setting up the dominoes took the team several weeks, working around the clock with extreme care since a single misplaced tile could trigger a premature chain reaction. Safety dividers are placed at intervals to protect completed sections. The falling dominoes traveled through elaborate themed sections including themed displays and trick shots. Each standard domino is about 4.8 cm tall, 2.4 cm wide, and 0.7 cm thick. The wave of falling dominoes travels at roughly 1.5 m/s, with each domino taking about 0.03 seconds to fall and strike the next one.
