Lotus Flower
A sacred flower that can regulate its own temperature like a warm-blooded animal/Plants
The sacred lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) is an aquatic plant revered across Asian cultures for thousands of years. It has a remarkable ability to thermoregulate, maintaining its flower temperature between 30 and 36 degrees Celsius even when the air temperature drops to 10 degrees, a trait almost unheard of in plants. The lotus leaf surface is covered in microscopic waxy bumps that repel water so effectively that dirt particles are carried away by rolling droplets, a self-cleaning property called the 'lotus effect' that has inspired waterproof materials. Lotus seeds are extraordinarily long-lived; a 1,300-year-old seed from a dry lakebed in China was successfully germinated.
