Lake Victoria

Africa's largest lake and the source of the White Nile/Water

Lake Victoria is the largest lake in Africa and the largest tropical lake in the world, shared by Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. It is the primary source of the White Nile and supports one of the densest freshwater fisheries on Earth. Despite its vast surface area, it is surprisingly shallow for its size, with an average depth of only 40 meters. The lake is also notorious for sudden violent storms that can whip up 3-meter waves with little warning.
