Kangchenjunga

The third highest mountain in the world, revered as sacred/Mountains

Kangchenjunga straddles the border of Nepal and India at 8,586 meters, making it the third highest mountain on Earth. Out of respect for local Sikkimese beliefs that consider the summit sacred, climbers traditionally stop a few meters short of the very top. It was long believed to be the tallest mountain in the world before surveys established Everest's superiority. The name means 'Five Treasures of the Great Snow,' referring to its five peaks.
