Jurassic Park T-Rex Paddock

The enclosure that famously failed to contain its occupant/Pop Culture

The Tyrannosaurus Rex paddock in Jurassic Park (1993) was one of the most heavily fortified enclosures on Isla Nublar. Based on film analysis and production documents, the paddock featured electrified fences approximately 7.3 m (24 feet) tall, with 10,000 volts running through the cables. The paddock itself covered roughly 5 hectares of forested terrain. The fence spacing was designed to hold an animal that stood 6 m tall at the hip, though the film memorably demonstrated that electric fences are only useful when the electricity is on.
