Ice Hockey Puck

The frozen rubber disc that moves at up to 170 km/h/Sports

An official NHL hockey puck is a vulcanized rubber disc, 7.62 cm in diameter, 2.54 cm thick, and weighing between 156 and 170 grams. Pucks are frozen before games to reduce bouncing on the ice. During play, pucks can reach speeds of 170+ km/h on slap shots; Zdeno Chara's 2012 All-Star Skills Competition shot clocked 175.1 km/h. Roughly 40-50 pucks are used per NHL game, as they frequently leave the rink or become too warm from friction to slide properly.
