Hedgehog
A spiny ball of attitude that can run 6 km per night/Small Animals
The European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) is covered in about 5,000-7,000 spines, each about 2 cm long, made of keratin (the same protein as human fingernails). When threatened, it curls into a tight ball, presenting nothing but spines to predators. Despite their prickly appearance, hedgehogs are surprisingly fast runners and can cover 6 km in a single night while foraging for insects, snails, and the occasional garden slug.
