Greenland

The world's largest island, covered by a massive ice sheet/Islands

Greenland is the world's largest island at 2.166 million square kilometers (Australia, being a continent, doesn't count). About 80% of its surface is covered by the Greenland ice sheet, which is up to 3 km thick and contains enough ice to raise global sea levels by about 7.2 m if it all melted. Despite its vast size, Greenland has only about 56,000 inhabitants, almost all of whom live along the ice-free coast. Politically part of Denmark, it has extensive self-governance and its own parliament.
