Greek Sarissa Pike

The long spear of Alexander the Great's phalanx/Historical Weapons

The sarissa was a long pike used by Macedonian infantry in Philip II and Alexander the Great's armies. Soldiers wielded it with two hands while sheltering behind a smaller shield strapped to the forearm. The extreme length gave the phalanx a wall of spear points several ranks deep.
