Grand Organ of Notre-Dame

8,000 pipes filling a cathedral with sound/Musical Instruments

The grand organ of Notre-Dame de Paris contains approximately 8,000 pipes, 5 manuals (keyboards), and 109 stops. The largest pipes are over 10 meters tall and produce frequencies below 16 Hz, which are felt more than heard. The organ survived the 2019 fire but required extensive cleaning to remove lead dust contamination. It was restored and played again at the cathedral's reopening in December 2024.
