Gorilla

The largest living primate, gentle giant of the African forests/Large Land Animals

Gorillas are the largest living primates, with adult male silverbacks weighing up to 230 kg and standing 1.8 meters tall when upright. Found in the forests of central Sub-Saharan Africa, they live in family groups of 5 to 30 individuals led by a dominant silverback. Despite their fearsome reputation, gorillas are predominantly herbivorous and generally peaceful, spending about 14 hours a day foraging and the rest resting. Their DNA is about 98.3% identical to humans. Mountain gorillas, a subspecies with thicker fur adapted to cold elevations above 2,500 meters, number only about 1,000 individuals in the wild.
