Galadriel's Phial

A small bottle containing the light of the most beloved star/Mythical & Fictional

The Phial of Galadriel is a gift given to Frodo Baggins by Galadriel in Lothlorien, containing the light of Earendil's star captured in the waters of her fountain. In The Lord of the Rings, it serves as 'a light when all other lights go out,' most notably in the tunnel of Shelob where Frodo and Sam use it to ward off a giant spider. Its light is described as penetrating darkness that no other light could touch. Despite being essentially a small crystal bottle, it contains light from a Silmaril, making it a container for one of the most powerful artifacts in Tolkien's mythology.
