Fisht Olympic Stadium

The jewel of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics/Stadiums

Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Russia, was the centerpiece of the 2014 Winter Olympics, hosting the opening and closing ceremonies. Named after Mount Fisht in the western Caucasus, its translucent polycarbonate roof was designed to evoke a snow-capped mountain peak or a seashell. After the Olympics, it was converted into a football stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The conversion involved removing the roof to create an open-air venue and adding extra seating, bringing capacity to about 47,700.
