Human Esophagus

The muscular tube that carries food from throat to stomach/The Human Body

The esophagus is a roughly 25 cm muscular tube that connects the pharynx to the stomach. It uses rhythmic contractions called peristalsis to push food downward, which is why you can swallow even while upside down. Two sphincter muscles at each end prevent backflow.
