Elevator Cab

The small room that moves vertically through buildings/Everyday Objects

A standard passenger elevator cab in an office building holds about 10 to 15 people. The cab rides on guide rails inside a shaft, counterbalanced by a weight that equals the cab plus about 40% of its rated load. Modern elevators travel at speeds of 1 to 10 m/s depending on building height.
