Cello

The instrument closest to the human voice/Musical Instruments

The cello's range closely matches the human vocal range, which is one reason its sound feels so emotionally direct. It stands about 1.2 meters tall, has four strings tuned in fifths (C2-G2-D3-A3), and is played seated with the instrument between the player's knees. A quality cello is carved from spruce (top) and maple (back and sides) and takes months of skilled labor to construct.
