Captain America's Shield

The vibranium disc that always comes back/Pop Culture

Captain America's shield is a concave disc forged from vibranium, a fictional metal that absorbs kinetic energy. According to Marvel specs and the MCU films, the shield is 0.76 m (30 inches) in diameter and about 3.8 cm thick at the center. In the comics, it weighs about 5.4 kg. The shield is virtually indestructible under normal circumstances and can be thrown with precise ricocheting trajectories, presumably because Steve Rogers took a lot of geometry classes.
