Baseball Bat

The smooth round stick at the heart of America's pastime/Sports

A Major League Baseball bat is made from a single piece of solid wood (typically northern white ash or maple) and must not exceed 1.067 m (42 inches) in length or 7.0 cm (2.75 inches) in diameter at its thickest point. Most MLB bats are 0.84-0.86 m long and weigh 0.85-0.94 kg. The bat's 'sweet spot,' where maximum energy transfer occurs, is located about 12-17 cm from the end of the barrel. Each MLB player goes through an average of 100 bats per season.
