Estadio Azteca

The only stadium to host two FIFA World Cup finals/Stadiums

Estadio Azteca in Mexico City is the only stadium in the world to have hosted two FIFA World Cup finals (1970 and 1986). It was the stage for Diego Maradona's infamous 'Hand of God' goal and his extraordinary solo goal against England, widely considered the greatest goal ever scored. Built at an elevation of 2,200 meters above sea level, its thin air has famously winded visiting teams. Opened in 1966 with a capacity of 105,000, it has since been reduced to about 87,500 for safety.
