Atlantic Ocean

The second-largest ocean, separating the Old World from the New/Oceans & Seas

The Atlantic Ocean is the second-largest of the world's five oceans, covering approximately 106.5 million square kilometers (about 20% of Earth's surface). It separates the Americas from Europe and Africa, with an average depth of 3,332 m and a maximum depth of 8,376 m in the Puerto Rico Trench. The Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the longest mountain range on Earth, runs through its center for 16,000 km. The Atlantic carries the Gulf Stream, which moderates the climate of Western Europe, making London warmer than cities at the same latitude in Canada.
