The circular invention that everything else rolled from/Inventions & Discoveries
The oldest known wheel was found in the Ljubljana Marshes of Slovenia, dating to around 3150 BCE. It is a solid wooden disc about 72 cm in diameter and 5 cm thick, made from ash and oak. The wheel was part of a two-wheeled cart. Surprisingly, the potter's wheel may have been invented before the transport wheel. This simple rotary device became the foundation for countless later technologies.
